I'm anal about having multiple text posts in a row. so anyways, I get what you're saying. I guess, objectively, it's not a terrible film. I just REALLY enjoyed Rooney Mara's performance. And David Fincher did a really fantastic job, without cutting out necessary plot details. It is too long, but it captures the actual story from the novel more efficiently. I see your point though for sure.
Ha. Half of my blog is rows of text posts. Anyways. For me, it was a lot in the way you approached it. And I feel like if I was in your place I would feel the same way, because Fincher is an absolutely amazing director. And I’m really stoked to see the movie.
I REALLY enjoyed Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyquist, the way that inherent knowledge of Swedish culture influenced the film and how they treated both the natural environment. I’m worried about how Fincher will treat the world of the story, especially because the Swedish movie did such a good job of it.

I love David Fincher. A whole lot. More than a lot of people. Fight Club, Zodiac, Seven, The Social Network are all fantastic movies.
But there’s something about taking a complex Swedish novel, and then a Swedish movie, with excellent Swedish actors and an excellent Swedish director, and American-izing it. I just have issues with it. And while I am still going to see it, I have my doubts. That doesn’t mean that it’s bad, but I’m just saying that saying the original “sucks in comparison” is a bit shallow.
The original is a fantastic movie. Saying it’s not is just silly. Though I am really excited to hear the Trent Reznor score.

This isn’t surprising (it’s kind of surprising they kept it for this long) but it’s a huge bummer, especially after such a great season. At least it went out on a high note? I mean, it was a creepy incestuous note but even that kinda makes sense for the show. Gonna miss you forever, my favorite three friends on television. I’ll think of fictional Ames whenever I drink white wine and pretend I’m a novelist and/or private investigator.
